Akane Teshigahara

Akane Teshigahara
As the leader of Sogetsu, which values creative freedom in Ikebana, Akane Teshigahara always pursues new possibilities and opportunities to disseminate Ikebana in Japan and abroad.
She has actively collaborated with the artists in different styles in events where various elements such as sound and light integrating with the creating process of ikebana on a stage.

Misei Ishikawa
Through her long experience of living abroad, in Chennai, India and Nairobi, Kenya, she came into contact with different cultures and felt the artistry of Ikebana more strongly and deeply.
She is renowned for her refined composition in arrangements and her skill of English makes her one of the most influential teachers abroad.

Gaho Isono
She studied under the 3rd Iemoto, Hiroshi Teshigahara, as a Sogetsu Atelier member.
Currently, in addition to holding classes at her own studio, she teaches at the Sogetsu HQ and at Sogetsu WEST while undertaking commissions from companies.
She has a reputation as a teacher with her accurate and informative criticisms.
Her style is often described as intellectual supported by her extensive knowledge and her delicate meticulousness.

Ken Katayama
Became a member of Sogetsu Atelier in 1962 and studied under the first Iemoto, Sofu and the 2nd Iemoto Kasumi .
He has served both as the president of Ikebana International Fukuoka and the director of Sogetsu Fukuoka Branch.
His activities have spread to Europe, the United States, Asia, and other parts of the world where he gives demonstrations and workshops.
His generosity and personality attract many Sogetsu ikebana friends in Japan and overseas.

Kumiko Kato
Studied under the third Iemoto, Hiroshi Teshigahara.
Renowned for her ikebana expressions that bring out the natural beauty of plants.
Engages in a wide range of activities, including floral arrangements for drama productions and ikebana demonstrations at events.
In 2019, as part of introducing Japanese culture during the visit of the President of the United States to Japan, she performed a floral presentation for the First Lady.

Kazuko Nakada
Studied under the second Iemoto , Kasumi Teshigahara,.
Her creative works are highly acclaimed, and in particular, her works combining iron rust and blue paulownia are well known in the art scene and have become synonymous with her name.
While running her own class and focusing on training younger artists, she has also created numerous decorations for restaurants, hotels, and event spaces

Sozan Nakamura
Sozan Nakamura was initiated into Sogetsu by the second Iemoto, Kasumi Teshigahara,
As a staff member of Sogetsu Atelier under the third Iemoto, Hiroshi, he has had many experiences overseas, and is active in teaching and promoting ikebana in various countries and regions.
He also holds a very popular class at the Sogetsu HQ and Sogetsu WEST, in addition to his own studio.
